Brandon Boyd’s work as a singer, songwriter, both as a solo artist and with his platinum-selling rock band, Incubus, is well documented and universally acclaimed. His other life’s work -- that of a painter -- has been garnering increasing attention and devoted audiences of its own for over a decade.

Brandon has published three books of his visual art: White Fluffy Clouds (2003), From the Murks of the Sultry Abyss (2007), and So the Echo (2013). Among dozens of book signings, group and solo exhibitions, special collaborative projects, and philanthropic arts, Brandon has showed a mixture of both expressive and abstract paintings, prints, and drawings. These projects led to art exhibits in cities internationally including Amsterdam, Cape Town, London, Paris, Rome, Zurich and across the U.S. in all major cities such as Austin, Las Vegas, Miami and Seattle. He has had a welcome presence to receptive audiences in various art fairs such as Art Miami and Scope Art Fair during Miami Art Week.

In 2019 Brandon exhibited at the globally recognized LA Art Show and also launched his ‘Opti-Mystic’ memory game based upon his popular original art series, Portals. He held launch events and signing appearances in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York and at Soho House Malibu. Also in 2019, Incubus commemorated twenty years of their seminal album Make Yourself and the band toured extensively for the second half of the year playing to sold out crowds.

Despite the limitations of 2020, Brandon showcased a large-scale solo exhibit at the prestigious Samuel Lynne Galleries in Dallas entitled 'Impossible Knots'. Simultaneously, Incubus celebrated the combined sales of more than 23 million albums and over 1 billion streams and their most recent EP, Trust Fall (Side B) was released in April. In January of 2021, Brandon released a cover of the Cat Stevens song "Wild World" on digital outlets after the single was very widely received as a part of the CatSong Festival tribute to Cat Stevens. Always in motion, he appeared as a celebrity mentor on American Idol and did a duet with AI winner Chayce Beckham. in April and also participated in a group show at Leica Gallery in L.A.

In May, he again collaborated with The Surf Lodge in Montauk where his designs were featured as their stage backdrop for the season and his art throughout the interior spaces. The next art project was as the featured celebrity guest artist at The Other Art Fair in September at The Barkar Hangar to a huge turnout. In December, Brandon's collaborative works with friend and photographer Brian Bowen Smith will be prominently featured at The Snow Lodge pop up at The St. Regis in Aspen.

Throughout the year Brandon spent a great deal of time crafting a solo album, Echoes and Cocoons. Its first single, 'Pocket Knife' debuted in November, and the second, 'Petrichor' in December - a full album is set to be released in 2022.

Boyd was a natural artist from childhood, and in fact his dream to attend art school after college once sat within his grasp, scholarships and all. He ended up signing a record deal instead. Through the next 25 whirlwind years, he never stopped painting and drawing, coming to view the creative processes of musicianship and visual artistry as both complementary and intertwined. “The music is intellectual,” Boyd says. “It tickles and frustrates me; it’s untouchable and fascinating. The art is intuitive, more like just breathing. It’s just a part of me.”
