about this art

"I feel like I drew it on a Valentine's Day. But I think ever since I moved to New York, I got in this habit of weekly buying myself a bouquet of flowers and putting it in a little vase at home. I think just seeing that the colors and life near me made me feel good. I always feel that people ask when you're carrying a bouquet of flowers: ‘Woo, who gave that to you??’ and it's like ‘bitch, I bought it for myself!’ So that's why I wrote in the background ‘is that from special someone?’ You know, it's like, yeah, me! Self-love, man!” - Melissa Villaseñor
