Gregory Dirr (b. 1986, Miami FL) is a visual artist whose work explores characters, settings, and themes of the novel he is writing called The Big Book. This work’s whimsical imagery and invented folklore feature characters that have special powers and abilities such as changing day to night, materializing objects from thin air, and multiplying themselves. Much of the imagery in this series is inspired by intense romantic paintings that were made for classic fairy tales long ago.
Gregory received his BFA at Ringling College of Art and Design in 2008. While there, he produced many significant pieces winning the Best of Core and Best of Fine Arts awards. His work Flora is on display at The US Embassy in Hong Kong. Some of his favorite things are pu-erh tea, gnomes, sand dunes, and finding creatures.
